Feelings of isolation are on the rise, and yet participation in traditional organizations like community groups and religious institutions continues to decline. Even still, people express strong attachment to their individual cultural identities.
How can we use technology to promote our cultural identities? What business ideas might address this space?
If you can think of a business idea that promotes cultural expression, this pitch competition is for you! Note: You do NOT need to be actively working on your idea to participate and win the $5,000 prize.
ABOUT THE IDEA PITCH COMPETITION
What is the theme of this pitch competition?
We're looking for ideas that help us connect to our cultural identities. Any product or service that leverages technology to promote cultural expression is fair game! Example: An app that helps people find local cultural events.
Do I need to be actively working on a business idea? Do I need to sign up with a team?
You can sign up as an individual, team, or existing business. You do NOT need to be actively working on your idea to participate and win the $5,000 prize.
What's the structure of the pitch competition?
Your pitch will be a 5-minute pitch, followed by 5-minutes of Q&A.
Do I need to make a pitch deck?
Participants will complete a concise and simple one-pager to showcases your ideas. A template will be provided, along with our judging criteria.
If I'm not actively pursuing my idea, do I have a real shot at winning $5,000?
Absolutely. We will evaluate each pitch based on the merits of the idea, and less so on progress to date.
When and where is the competition?
The competition will take place on Tuesday, May 23rd, at 6:00pm at Primary in Downtown Manhattan (26 Broadway, New York, NY 10014).
Can you share some business ideas for inspiration?
Some ideas that align with this pitch competition: A Masterclass-style video-curriculum that teaches cultural identity, a TaskRabbit-like product that helps you find religious leaders, or a tool that helps people locate cultural institutions.
